SS Inductions cold air induction units are designed to force cool, high-pressure air into your engine for maximum performance.
Cooler air teamed with forced induction is a long-understood way of ensuring
your engine is able to breathe and perform the way it was originally designed
to. Currently your car is either breathing in warm air from the engine bay or
desperately trying to get enough air from a standard undersized induction.
Cool air is mandatory for performance as it contains more oxygen than warm
air and is therefore denser. We all know our cars go better at night or early
morning when the air is cooler.
Your ECU and/or airflow sensor are designed to detect this increase of cool
air and alter the air/fuel mixture accordingly. This results in more effective
burning of the fuel mix. When you increase the efficiency of your engine you
will experience an increase in horsepower (mid-range), increased torque and
improved fuel economy.
An additional benefit of cold air induction is the direct feed of high-pressure
air to the intake system. The cold air induction unit is able to channel cool
air straight into the air box creating positive air pressure in the air box
at all times. This gives your engine more air the instant it needs it. This
is similar to a mild supercharging effect.
